An "elegant safari experience"

“Most memorably magical 4 days.... ever!!!!!! Such an elegant safari experience!!”

My husband and I travelled to Africa in late November for our honeymoon. We spent 4 days at Nomad's Serengeti Safari Camp at Prince Charles Campsite at the base of a hill in Rongai. Let's start at our airport pickup....Chedi, our fabulous guide, met our plane in a super high end decked out pale green safari jeep at Seronera airstrip in the middle of the Seregeti. The jeep had an ice chest abound with bottled coca cola, sprite and water as refreshments for us. Chedi says to us, "okay if we do a little animal viewing on our way back to camp?" We respond, "OF COURSE!!!" not expecting to run into many animals. Boy, were we surprised when after only driving about 1/8th of a mile, the two of us were standing out the top of the jeep taking photo after photo of giraffe, an elephant, zebras, a warthog family, impala, a pond overflowing with hippos, storks and Egyptian geese!!!

We then came upon a couple of cheetah roaming through a field. We also saw a beautiful lone leopard stretching comfortable on an old broken tree. Upon our arrival at the campsite, we were greeted by Babu and a few other Serengeti Safari Camp staff with a cocktail and an umbrella (it had started to rain). The campsite was gorgeous....it felt straight out of Out of Africa or some royal camping outfit in the 1920s.

They poured us wine beside a dreamy campfire they drew for us. Then they invited us to a wonderful meal in the dining tent. I had passion fruit souffle for dessert!!! Can you believe it???? We had hot bucket showers and the layout of the tents were very nice! The beds were incredibly warm and comfy too- they even put hot water bottles in them each night! We could hear zebras calling out in the night and lions roaring as we dozed off to sleep.

The next day we were woken up by the staff before sunrise with hot coffee and tea and off we went in the jeep to get an early start on the day! Chedi had the jeep packed with blankets to keep us warm and a full breakfast spread that we later enjoyed out on the plains!! That day we saw hyena, vultures, family of lions, tons of varieties of beautiful birds and the list goes on and on and on.

Chedi was very very knowledgeable about the animals we saw and also knowledgeable about the terrain and the park itself. The last day we had an elephant pass right in front of our jeep and we ate lunch near a meeting of two rivers where about 30 hippos were frolicking. On our last morning, the entire team of staff came out to say goodbye. I seriously got teary with this emotional sendoff. They were all so sweet and took such good care of us during our stay!!! I highly recommend going to the Serengeti during November. It was very lush and vibrantly green that time of year! Go, go, go to Serengeti Safari Camp!!!!!
