“Our private Nomad guide in Tarangire was outstanding and by
far the best guide of the trip. His name was Halifa and he deserves
world-wide fame for his knowledge, company, personality and service
levels. Thank you for insisting that we have good guides. He made
the trip for us.
We also loved the Serengeti. You were right - the huge
plains were just stunning and everything I wanted. I was so pleased to go
there because there were far fewer people around, it was remote and just
beautiful. However they seem to pursue an enthusiastic policy of
controlled burning there which impacted heavily on the beauty of the
surroundings - large areas of black, charred landscapes instead of the lovely
Serengeti grasses. But outweighing all that we were lucky enough to see
the migration - the chance of a lifetime and of course the Lamai accommodation,
lodge and food itself was just superb. We felt blessed to have had the
opportunity to go there.
If we went to Lamai again, we'd probably want our own
guide. Sharing the guide at Lamai was fine, but much more structured - we
had less flexibility than we wanted over our time there because of having to
fit in with other couples....The food was great there and the service was
excellent.”
