Safari days were excellent

At night in your tent you could hear the lions roar, hyenas cry and wildebeests migrating through the camp.

Days on safari with our Nomad guide (Halifa) were excellent... We also saw a leopard kill, cheetahs consuming a kill, many prides of lions and a lion kill

Kiba Point - first safari so rewarding

I have just had a very enjoyable 3 nights at Kiba Point guiding the Dunne and Cummings families from New York on their first trip to Africa.

I just wanted to write and say thank you for the great reception and service we all received at Kiba Point. Mat is an absolute star as host and manager.  He is a master at making clients feel comfortable and at home and is very cool and composed at all times.  I think he does a great job in promoting the Nomad ethic and culture.

The food was superb and so was the service of Deo and Michael at front of house. We were ably guided by Frank on our walks and at the fly camp and Godlison through out.  Godlison managed to find a male leopard courting a female leopard in a tree on the way to Lake Tagalala on the very last outing for their safari which was a suitably spectacular way to finish up.

Thanks once again to the whole Nomad team for making their first safari to Africa so rewarding.
Best wishes,

Rob Barbour

Heaven - Kiba Point

We are not very religious people, but if heaven does exist, it must be very near here (Kiba Point).

Serengeti - our trip was fantastic

Our trip was fantastic. Everything went to plan and we wouldn’t have changed a thing.

Tanzania – Nomad was great. David was a terrific guide and a very nice guy. He was so easy to be with and really looked after us. We especially loved Loliondo. There was one other family there for one night but apart from that we had the place to ourselves so we were very spoilt. I loved the walking safari with the surprise bush breakfast set up for us at the end – even with the camp cook there to cook our eggs! We had an amazing day with David on the Kenyan border watching the massive migration herds.

Serengeti Safari Camp - Mission Accomplished

Everything worked like clockwork. Magical. I had complete confidence in my guide (Halifa) within minutes of meeting him.

The holiday of a lifetime - mission accomplished!!

Probably one of the best holidays I have ever had.

“quite simply it will probably be one of the best holidays I have ever had”
Trip Advisor review July 5, 2011
Sand Rivers Selous

I have never previously bothered writing a review on trip advisor but considering our stay at Sand Rivers I have been compelled into doing so…quite simply it will probably be one of the best holidays I have ever had.

Firstly the place is beautiful, set on the banks of the rufiji river with incredible views across the river and sounds of the hippo echoing whether at breakfast for sunrise or drinks at sunset. Our room, a suite, was incredible – very large, clean and again with stunning views…we even had an elephant effectively at the end of our bed on the first night which was pretty special.

The food is delicious and different at every meal time which considering the remoteness is quite an achievement.

However a small camp like this is made or broken by the management team and here Mark and Chloe (and their staff) deserve unlimited praise. Every little detail is thought of…be it preparing a surprise romantic meal in our rooms one night to greeting us on return from every game drive to organizing fishing one afternoon to lending a zoom lens for my camera they really our brilliant and genuinely charming. In essence they make you feel at home and like you are guests at a friend’s house…at know point are you recalling the money you spent and wondering whether you are getting good value. It also helped that our guides, Mussa and Frank were wonderful and clearly some of the best in the reserve.

I had only two reservations about Sand Rivers, and these aren’t really a fault of the camp. First it is small and this means that if a large group of loud and obnoxious guests are staying, and they take over the communal living areas, this will be unavoidable and would probably hamper your stay but I think you have to be unlucky to encounter such a group…second is that it is quite wild. By that I mean that you are in the heart of Africa and if you scare easily or worry, however irrationally, that a lion or hyena or hippo might come into your room then given the open nature of the rooms and noises at night this wont disappear.

We were situated in the last room which was a good 3/4min walk from the main communal area which didn’t help the nerves when returning from dinner (with an ascari and torch), when I return (and I hope I will) I would take a room as close to the lodge as possible (on a personal level it would make me feel a bit more secure).

Concluding, this is a special place with special staff. PS make sure you do the fly-camping, was without doubt one of the highlights.

Sand Rivers Selous - magical

My trip was really wonderful and we had a superb time at Sand Rivers.

I loved the setting, the website really does not do it justice and it is impossible to reflect the natural beauty and serenity!

We had a lovely guide called Lazarus who was really fantastic and it was a total pleasure being in his company. He was very knowledgeable and made game drives diverse and rewarding. We failed to see any lion which was a shame but they were in camp one night!

It was great to spend time with Mark and Chloe in the evenings. They were a wonderfully hospitable couple, both making our stay utterly perfect.

All in all it was just magical. I think the only negative remark would be that the monkeys seem to be running havoc in the communal bar/restaurant area! We were having tea and one stole the entire milk tart (which was mighty tasty might I add). There was also a bush baby which in the evening tried to pinch some canapés. It’s a minor issue and hardly worth mentioning as it was quite entertaining.

Thanks so much.

(Sand Rivers camp managers added: yes, the monkeys can be pesky guests and we've arranged for more staff to be present in the mess at mealtimes to encourage them to stay away)

Kiba Point - what an amazing time

What an amazing time we all had at this incredible camp! Thank you so much for everything, hospitality was the best. We’ll never foret the cool wet washcloths & champagne flutes filled with lemonade upon all our arrivals. What great service. Your guides were the best & we’ll always remember their knowledge & friendliness. They’ll be so missed! It’s been great staying here, bugs & all.  Thanks again Matt, job well done.
